For most, running a single marathon is a lifetime achievement. But for Kiwi runner Stefan Ozich, that barely scratches the surface. Stefan is attempting to become the first person ever to run the length of New Zealand twice – a mind-boggling 4,800 kms.
Starting at Cape Reinga and finishing at Bluff, Stefan’s route takes him through the diverse landscapes of Aotearoa, from the rugged northern coastlines to the mountainous trails of the South Island. Once completed, he plans to turn around and do it all over again – a true test of mind, body, and spirit.
Why stefan's running

Why? For Stefan, this challenge is about pushing human limits and raising awareness for mental health, a cause deeply important to him. He is running to support the Last Chance Project, a charity dedicated to providing mental health education and tools to help people thrive in difficult times. As he conquers long, solitary days on the road, his journey reflects the power of endurance, grit, and mental resilience.
"I’ve chosen barefoot style shoes as they have been integral in my endurance journey. They have taught me to really use my feet properly. For something that will demand 10+ hours a day of arduous movement, I’ll need something that keeps me moving properly." - Stefan Ozich
the right footwear for the journey
And what better way to take on this challenge than with the right tools for the journey? Stefan runs with Realfoot natural footwear, designed to reconnect him to the ground beneath his feet and maximise his strength with every step. Running up to 80km a day, Stefan’s physical preparation is matched only by his mental toughness. His story is inspiring not only to runners but to anyone chasing seemingly impossible dreams.
